  13. I'd be more concerned with applying a 5V supply to a 3.3V 
  14. motherboard than just the heat.  Almost all integrated circuits 
  15. are produced for either a 3.3V or 5V supply.  Their spec's permit 
  16. a supply of no less or no greater than 10 percent of its 
  17. specified Vcc.  That means the supply for a 3.3V motherboard must 
  18. be no less than 2.9V or no greater than 3.7V.  Anything outside 
  19. of this range will either SMOKE the chips on board or render the 
  20. board useless.  Go to a known supplier of this kind of board and 
  21. for an extra couple hundred dollars get the right board, chassis 
  22. and power supply.  The same components that you currently own 
  23. that might work in a motherboard in your chassis, will be 
  24. warranteed to work in a chassis from the motherboard 
  25. manufacturer.
